Comprehensive Cancer Care 2001:  Integrating Complementary & Alternative Therapies

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Deerfield, IL - With complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) playing a critical role in cancer treatment, the Goldmans forged a relationship with James Gordon, MD, a clinical professor at Georgetown University Medical School who chairs the first White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Policy. Dr. Gordon is recognized as one of the most credible and important voices for integrating CAM therapies into comprehensive medical care programs, as the founder and director of the Center for Mind-Body Medicine and the chair of the Program Advisory Council of the National Institutes of Health's Office of Alternative Medicine.

To build on this vital relationship, the Goldman Philanthropic Partnerships will join with the American Cancer Society, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the University of Texas-Houston Medical School to sponsor Comprehensive Cancer Care 2001: Integrating Complementary & Alternative Therapies to be held October 19-20 in Arlington, Virginia. The event will focus on presentations on the latest promising research on CAM therapies and the integration of these programs into comprehensive care. Innovative CAM researchers will join leaders in mainstream cancer care and oncology research along with more than 2,000 attendees.
