The National
Foundation for Alternative Medicine The mission of
NFAM is to seek out effective alternative and complementary
medical treatments not easily accessible or currently
unavailable in the United States, evaluate the protocols and
outcomes of these treatments and report the findings to the
general public.

Heimlich Institute

Founded in New
York in the 1960s, The Heimlich Institute continues to conduct
scientific, cultural and social research into issues of
importance to the medical and scientific community.
Henry
J. Heimlich,
M.D., president, is best known for the lifesaving Heimlich
Maneuver, for which he won the Lasker Award in 1984. But the
technique is just part of the work of the institute that bears
his name. Through The Heimlich Institute, Dr. Heimlich is
researching new treatments for AIDS and cancer, and teaching the
expanded use of the Heimlich Maneuver to save drowning victims,
asthma sufferers and cystic fibrosis patients. The Institute
places emphasis on using the creative portion of our minds in
medicine and life.

Mind-Body Medicine The Center for Mind-Body
Medicine is dedicated to reviving the spirit and transforming
the practice of medicine. The Center is working to create a
more compassionate, open-minded and effective model of health
care and health education, combining the precision of modern
science with the wisdom of ancient healing. The Center is
headed by James S. Gordon, MD, Chair of the White House
Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Policy.

International Myeloma Foundation The IMF
is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality
of life for multiple myeloma patients while working towards
prevention and a cure. President Susie
Novis and her husband Dr. Brian Durie lead the fight to
cure this deadly disease and educate all who will listen.
Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation The
Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation is driven by a single
purpose, to accelerate the search for a cure for multiple
myeloma. To achieve this purpose, President Kathy
Giusti and the Foundation funds
research in the field of multiple myeloma, builds
collaborations among researchers and industry, provides
